Subject to approval by the European Commission, Eggborough Power Ltd is to sell its North Yorkshire coal-fired power station to the Czech Republic’s EPH energy group. The facility employs about 300 people and provides about 4% of the UK’s energy.
EPH chairman Daniel Kretinsky said: “The acquisition of Eggborough power plant reflects our genuine interest in the UK market and our appreciation of the highly competent management, skilled employees, technology and location of the plant.” The Eggborough deal marks EPH’s first acquisition in the UK market.
