The new Kitamura Mycenter 4XT features a built-in fourth- and fifth-axis trunnion table that sits within a large machining area. This allows cycle times to be reduced via the elimination of manual workpiece positioning; it also reduces the number of tool changes required, while improving both precision and surface finish.
Available from Nuneaton-based Leader CNC Technologies Ltd (
www.leaderCNC.co.uk), the Mycenter 4XT has a work envelope of 800 x 610 x 510mm, an A-axis tilt movement of -42 to +120deg, and a C-axis rotation of 0 to 260deg.
The linear axes feature solid box guideways, while the machine structure comprises a heavily ribbed Meehanite casting for optimised rigidity and damping characteristics.
The BT40 high-torque spindle is rated at 26kW 15,000rev/min, while the linear axes have a rapid-traverse rate of 36m/min and a maximum cutting feed rate of 10m/min. Rapids for the A and C axes are 4,800 and 8,000deg/min respectively.
Furthermore, the 30-tool ATC can change tools in 2.5sec and accommodate tools up to 300mm long with a maximum weight of 8kg, while the new Kitamura Arumatik JR control gives the operator a user-friendly and intuitive interface that will be familiar to most machine shops.
