Aston Martin revs up at MIRAGaydon-based Aston Martin has opened a prototype and vehicle development operation on the MIRA Technology Park (the 1.75 million sq ft
enterprise zone in Nuneaton).

Ian Minards, product development director at the luxury car maker, said that the new 15,800 sq ft facility adds vital engineering capacity, as the company steps up its programme of new-model development.

He said: “The cutting-edge facilities at MIRA, together with its reputation for quality and excellent security, make it an ideal place for us to carry out some of our prototype development work. This excellent facility gives our engineering teams exactly what they need to ensure that Aston Martin sports cars continue to be truly class-leading.”

MIRA chief executive George Gillespie said: “As an iconic British automotive brand, Aston Martin is a very welcome addition to the technology park. By selecting us as a new location for its prototype and vehicle development teams, Aston Martin is able to take advantage of a bespoke and secure facility with extensive research and testing facilities — right on its doorstep.”

MIRA was awarded Enterprise Zone status in 2011. Other tenants include Bosch, Haldex and Norgen.
