Using a step-by-step interactive format of practical tuition in conversational, DIN and ISO programming, the Heidenhain Interactive Training system (HIT) is a straightforward and low-cost training programme that helps users of Heidenhain TNC control systems to understand three- and five-axis programming.
Lincoln College has invested in 20 seats of HIT to give its engineering students CNC training, complemented by a new DMU 50 EVO five-axis machining centre — chosen because it could be supplied with a Heidenhain TNC 620 control.
College lecturer Dave Thompson says: “We need to give our students industry-leading CNC machine and programming training technology that uses training material and processes relating to control technology widely used in industry.
The HIT package satisfies those needs and — importantly — is the ideal route for us to produce ‘packaged’ learning materials.”
HIT (
www.heidenhain.co.uk) provides clear explanations of TNC programming principles, on-screen animations of TNC functionality and example exercises.
“It works in conjunction with simulator keyboards and programming-station software, so users can try out exercises while watching on-screen demonstrations. After each level, they can take an interactive test to measure their progress.”
