Telford-based Secal Laser, which offers a wide range of sheet-metal fabrication services, has secured a six-figure funding package from the new corporate banking team set up by HSBC to support medium-size businesses in the Black Country and Shropshire.

It will use the funding to install its first paint line. HSBC previously helped Secal to purchase four ‘state of the art’ lasers to meet growing demand.

The company has since seen a significant increase in business, particularly from customers in the automotive sector.

Managing director Roger Lavender said: “We have come a long way since we started out in 2001, and we now offer services that are a far cry from those early days. The funding will enable us to invest in our production line and ensure that we maintain our upward trajectory.”

The deal was one of the first undertaken by HSBC’s new corporate banking team. Regional director Gary Burton said: “Companies like Secal Laser are ambitious and innovative, and I am delighted that our new corporate team was able to support it with the installation of a new paint line.”
