Bromsgrove-based HME Technology (
www.hme-tech.com), which supplies and installs design and technology equipment, has won a £100,000 contract from the Isle of White Studio School.
It will supply a wide range of equipment, including CNC milling machines, lathes, laser cutters and routers.
Managing director Julian Davis said: “This is something of a breakthrough for us. Studio schools are a relatively
new concept in education, looking to pioneer a bold new approach to learning that includes teaching through enterprise projects and real work.
“They are being launched across the country, and we hope that this educational sector will provide further significant work.”
Isle of Wight Studio School in East Cowes caters for 400 14- to 19-year-old students. Established by Southampton City College, it is sponsored by the Inspire Academy Trust and specialises in the marine manufacturing and offshore engineering sectors.
It will work closely with local employers such as the wind-turbine group Vestas Wind Systems.
Founded in 1984, HME Technology has a product range that includes forges, brazing hearths, furnaces, welding tables, fume-extraction systems, kilns, wood-working equipment, routers and CNC machines.
It also supplies fume cupboards and ventilation systems for science departments.
