Primrose Solar (
www.primrosesolar.com) has connected its 48MW Southwick Estate solar farm in Hampshire to the national grid, claiming it to be the UK’s largest; it will generate enough electricity to power about 14,500 homes.
Primrose Solar COO Nicola Waters said that the farm will make a “a major contribution” to the UK’s renewable-energy targets.
The company collaborated with Solarcentury (a specialist in solar installation and PV systems for homes, businesses and solar farms) on the project, and most of the construction work was completed over the winter.
Primrose Solar CEO Giles Clark said: “We’re delighted to have completed the Southwick Estate solar farm on schedule. I’d like to thank Solarcentury for their professionalism and for their commitment to getting the job done.”
