The recent arrival of a new fibre laser cutting machine from Prima Power marks the final piece in an ambitious expansion programme at Canley-based PAB Coventry Ltd (
www.pabgroup.co.uk).
The new laser cutter follows the 2016 arrival of a Prima Platino 2.0, plus investment earlier this year in a 2m brake press and a 300-tonne hydraulic press.
It is part of a three-year programme that has also seen the company refurbish its offices and purchase new industrial units to increase its manufacturing capacity.
CEO Mark Brazier says: “The new laser cutter will help us to expand further into the super-car sector of the automotive industry. The brake press and the hydraulic press have also improved our capability and capacity.
"We feel that this investment will help take the company to where we want and need it to be, and to keep PAB as a key Tier One supplier to OEMs.”
Other improvements have seen a tooling division established, with investment in further machining capability from Hurco, plus the change to a 24/7 split-shift operating pattern.
Mr Brazier added: “Turnover has doubled in the last three years, and we recognised a need to grow the infrastructure of the business to help support this expansion; 35% of our tooling requirements are now satisfied in-house, and we are aiming for 50%.
"New jobs have been created at all levels of the business, as we move to the next level of turnover and investment.”
