BG Engineering handles the pressureChesterfield-based BG Engineering Ltd (, which was founded in 1988 as ‘a precision sub-contractor specialising in CNC engineering’, has introduced a new pressure test and assembly service, following the acquisition of a high-pressure testing facility adjacent to its existing factory.

The equipment in this facility has been specially adapted to enable BG Engineering to pressure-test valves and other components.

The company has also recruited a specialist operator, with over 15 years’ experience in the design and testing of pressurised equipment, to manage the new operation.

The testing facility includes a complex leakage detection system with a number of safety systems, including oxygen monitoring, nitrogen extraction and inter-locking controls.

It is equipped with overhead cranes that have a 10-tonne lifting capacity, plus a two-tonne handling crane in the high-pressure test room.

BG Engineering now has the capability to run rigorous testing, detect the smallest leakages and carry out strength and functionality testing of valves and other pressure-bearing products.

Shane Greveson, business development director, said: “The new pressure testing and assembly facility further improves our offering, enabling BG Engineering to offer a one-stop service for the machining, assembly and testing of components and products for our customers.”

BG Engineering has invested heavily over the years in the latest CNC technology, and it recently set up a new machining cell to be used for apprentice training. It is currently working towards securing AS9100 accred-itation, in order to become an approved aerospace supplier.
