Continental selects EOS to supply 3-D printersEOS, a leading supplier in the industrial 3-D printing of metals and polymers, has announced a collaboration with Continental, which develops technologies and services — in particular tyres — associated with the mobility of people and their goods.

The company has bought a number of EOS M 290 systems for the series production of metal components. Continental also received support from EOS ( in installing the systems, training employees and developing manufacturing applications.

Markus Glasser, senior vice-president at EOS, said: “We are very proud of our joint project with Continental and look forward to supporting the customer throughout every stage.

"In particular, the strong spirit of teamwork between our two companies was a key criterion in Continental’s decision to work with us. We will also be very happy to provide any assistance Continental may need in other projects.”

The EOS M 290 has a build volume of 250 x 250 x 325mm, and it allows the fast, flexible and cost-effective production of metal parts directly from CAD data.

A broad range of validated materials and processes is also available from EOS, along with extensive software solutions for data preparation and quality management; the company currently has an installed base of over 500 machines world-wide.
