Indian metal-forging firm opens its UK facilityBharat Forge (, a leading Indian metal-forging company, has opened its first UK facility — the Electric Mobility Research and Development Centre at the MIRA Technology Park, where it will develop components and sub-systems for electric vehicles (EVs). It will be able to tap into the extensive testing facilities at the Technology Park, as well as the pool of engineering talent in the Midlands.

Executive director Amit Kalyani said: “We are really impressed with the infrastructure and the facilities available, and we have set up a research facility focused on R&D for powertrain solutions for EVs.

Several large global OEMs and Tier One companies are already present at the Technology Park for development and testing of vehicles and systems in the EV space. The infrastructure available will reduce our time to entry in this very important market space.”

Lawrence Davies of the Department for International Trade said: “The investment from Bharat Forge is great news for the UK automotive industry and will help to strengthen the UK-India trading relationship.

"The UK is already the number-one destination for inward investment in Europe, and we are continuing to see significant investment within the automotive sector.”

The MIRA Technology Park’s extensive list of tenants, which includes Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota, Bosch, Haldex, Continental and ZF, provides a collaborative environment for Bharat Forge to develop its electric drivetrain technologies.

Commercial director Terry Spall said: “We’re really pleased to welcome Bharat Forge to the Technology Park. The growing number of globally recognised automotive businesses is testament to the benefit of working in a technology cluster, with access to extensive facilities and the ability for our tenants to engage with many of the world’s global OEMs right on their doorstep.”
