ETG set to host Smart Factory Machining in IrelandA leading advanced machining solutions provider is set to stage an ‘Irish’ first when it hosts its Smart Factory Machining Event next week.

Engineering Technology Group (ETG) will throw open its doors at its Co. Kildare showroom for three days (6-8 March) to provide up to 140 delegates with an insight into the latest CNC machine technology, turnkey solutions, automation and shopfloor data systems.

Working in partnership with cutting tools partner Guhring, there will be a host of live demonstrations on a Hardinge V710S (3-Axis mill with Siemens 828D control), Quaser MF400UH (5-Axis, with Heidenhain control) and a Nakamura WY150 (twin turret, twin spindle lathe with Y axis on both turrets).

Visitors to the Smart Factory showcase will also see a Hyfore work-holding and tooling display and the Halter U20 Load Assistant in action, unloading and loading billets to a simulated lathe with 3-jaw chuck — the first time this technology has been showcased in Ireland.

Jamie Fletchmoore, General Manager of ETG Ireland, said: “There is no getting away from the fact that Smart Factories are coming and we want all our existing and potential customers to understand what this means and how they can tap into them to secure improved product cycles, more capacity and better shopfloor utilisation.”

“We have brought together the strengths of the world’s most advanced CNC manufacturers under one roof, featuring Nakamura, Quaser and Hardinge, while also introducing some of the latest software from the likes of Cimco, Camplete, Heidenhain and Mastercam.”

He added: “And then we have the main attraction…Ireland’s first ever demonstration of the HALTER LoadAssistant that can be used on all CNC lathes and mills, automating numerous process and helping the move to ‘lights-out manufacturing’.”

ETG Ireland has been open for five years and provides all of the group’s products, including sales, service, training and support delivered by experts on the ground.

The Smart Factory Event will be headed up by seven ETG experts and there will also be a host of special show deals to take advantage of during the three days.

Jamie concluded: “Data is going to be king going forward and the sooner manufacturers understand what it can do for them the better. It’s not just a ‘play toy’ for the big boys, but something all firms can invest in and use to be more productive and profitable.

“A live factory floor data management system from Cimco, including programme transfer and machine monitoring, will hopefully provoke plenty of discussion.”
