TBS Engineering Group (www.tbseng.co.uk), a world-leading developer of automatic machinery for the lead-acid battery industry, is to mark its 50th anniversary with a number of employee and customer events — starting in June, when it moves into new £15 million purpose-built global headquarters on Gloucester Business Park.

Managing director David Longney said: “TBS is on a remarkable journey. We pioneered COS technology, and we continue to lead the way in automation and innovation in our sector — from machines that produced just two batteries per minute 30 years ago to over 10 per minute today.”

The group currently turns over £40 million and employs over 200 people world-wide, with operations in the UK, China and Canada.

It has enjoyed consistent growth over the years and is now delivering machines and services to customers in
over 80 countries.

Mr Longney added: “There is a bright future for lead-acid batteries, and we’re fully committed to it. It’s a much greener industry today.

"A recent study by Scientific American demonstrated that lead-acid batteries are the most recycled product in the USA, with 99.3% of them recycled. Our mission is to continue to use technology to make energy storage of all types even greener and more productive.”
