Turnover has grown to almost £50 million following investment at Beatson Clark, a long-established Rotherham manufacturer of glass bottles and jars, which counts the likes of Vimto, Henderson’s Relish and BrewDog among its customers (
www.beatsonclark.co.uk).
The company has been in the business for more than 260 years, and it supplies the food, beverage, brewing and pharmaceutical industries. It reported a turnover of £49.9 million for the year to 31 December 2017, up 4.3% from £47.8 million the previous year.
In a report accompanying the results, the directors said: “The company has continued to build upon the success of 2016 and improved profitability in the year. General trading conditions remain challenging.
“Management have continued to invest heavily in the Rotherham facility.”
The company also made a further investment in its recycling unit, which sorted 19,279 tonnes of mixed waste. Of this, 16,142 tonnes of glass cullet was re-used in its own production.
Earlier this year, the company announced a £2 million investment in its Rotherham facility, covering areas from glass melting and production to inspection, packaging and IT.
This is in addition to the £20 million that has been spent on improvements over the past decade.
