BG Engineering, a supplier of precision-machined components, has acquired Sheffield-based Pentag Gears and Oilfield Equipment Ltd, which designs and manufactures high-quality gearing (

Pentag directors Martin Wragg and Andrew Larkin (plus its four other members of staff) will relocate to BG Engineering’s Chesterfield facility in the coming months.
Marie Cooper, financial director of Cooper Brown Enterprises, which owns BG Engineering, said: “Pentag has built its reputation on over a century of high-quality manufacturing expertise in bespoke gearing projects.
"There are great synergies between the two businesses, which are both focused on the machining of often quite complex products.
"Pentag will benefit from being part of a larger group with added-value management expertise to support its technical capabilities. The acquisition means we will be increasing our machining capacity and offering shorter lead times.”
From its beginnings in 1988, BG Engineering has become a leading CNC machining company, with more than 30 staff (including four apprentices) and 18 CNC machines. Its customers in the UK and Europe included some of the largest OEMs in the energy industry.
