The Union Tool UTDF two-fluted carbide-coated flat-bottom drill series is now available in the UK from St Helens-based Rainford Precision Machines Ltd (
www.rainfordprecision.com).
Designed to provide a drilling solution for angular, radial and other irregular surfaces, the drills are available in diameters from 2 to 12mm, with ‘plus sizes’ offered for drilling holes ready for M4, M6, M8, M10 and M12 threads.
UTDF drills are of solid-carbide composition, with a precision-ground shank and Union Tool’s latest-generation coating technology, which is said to extend tool life and improve cutting performance.
The drills have a flat land and a 30deg helix angle that combine to provide a robust geometry for high levels of chip removal and stability.
A web-thinning design and double margin further support swarf evacuation, edge sharpness and stability.
UTDF drills are suitable for alloyed, structural, pre-hardened and carbon steels, as well as cast iron and aluminium alloys. Depending on the selected diameter, they have an overall length from 50 to 100mm, and flute lengths from 8 to 48mm.
