Nuneaton-based Horiba MIRA (www.horiba-mira.com), a world-leader in unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) systems, displayed its new mid-size multi-role UGV at Eurosatory 2018 in Paris last month.

Called Centaur, it can be integrated with various payloads, including the detection of improvised explosive devices, remote surveillance and soldier support.

At nearly 3m long, it is a lightweight variant of the Viking platform that Horiba MIRA has developed over a number of years, and it can reach speeds up to 40kph. It weighs 2,000kg and can carry payloads up to 600kg.

Standing at just over 1m tall, the vehicle incorporates a flatbed on which payloads can be mounted.

A prototype was built in the UK, and production is planned in Turkey by Horiba MIRA’s consortium partner, the defence manufacturer Katmerciler.
