Dominic Roach, a machinist at Cambridgeshire-based Precision Component Manufacturing Ltd (PCML), has graduated with a first-class degree in engineering from Anglia Ruskin University, after three years of part-time study at University Centre, Peterborough.

The 24-year old has worked for PCML for seven years, since leaving school in Wisbech.

He said: “I’ve had great support from PCML, from my HNC right through to completing my degree. The company has allowed me time off to study and attend the course; it has also encouraged me to use its latest CNC machines and other equipment, to learn hands-on.”

Lorraine Canham, PCML’s HR manager (www.pcml.net), said: “Dominic is a brilliant example of how far hard work and commitment can take you. His progress over the years has been amazing, and we are proud to support him.”

Dominic has now set his sights even higher. He added: “I want to become a professionally qualified engineer. Since this was an accredited course by the Institute of Engineering Technology, it takes me closer to achieving my ambition.”
