New robot combines strength with a slim design

New robot combines strength with a slim designManufacturers with limited floor space and heavy machine-tending requirements can enhance their efficiency and productivity with the six-axis M20iB/35S from Coventry-based Fanuc UK Ltd (www.fanuc. eu/uk/en).

The newest addition to the company’s M20iB portfolio of industrial robots, this offers an “impressive” strength-to-weight ratio and is particularly suited to aggressive manufacturing environments in which space is at a premium.

Fanuc UK’s managing director, Tom Bouchier, said: “While the M20iB/35S is designed to achieve fast cycles with heavy workpieces in a limited floor space, this robot is also highly flexible in its application, offering several mounting options.

"The robot’s enclosed design — to the IP67 standard — makes it resistant to the ingress of dust, water and dirt; moreover, all power and data cables, motors and user interface services are integrated into the arm, further reducing the robot’s footprint.”

The M20iB/35S weighs 205kg, can lift payloads up to 35kg and has a maximum reach of 1,445mm.

It is also compatible with the R-30iB Plus controller and the iPendant Touch, both of which have been designed to simplify programming through an easy-to-use intuitive interface.

Optional extras include iRVision, an ‘intelligent’ robot vision tool for pick-and-place applications.
