Germany-based Robert Bosch GmbH, the engineering and electronics company, has been announced as an official partner of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship — the world’s first purely electric single-seater racing series — for the next three seasons.

This is designed to underpin Bosch’s aim to be a leader in electro-mobility. Board member Markus Heyn said: “Bosch is the ‘go to’ partner for electric driving — a position that is now also reflected in our status as an official Formula E partner.”

Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of Formula E, said: “I couldn’t think of a more natural tie-up — with Bosch’s long-standing tradition of competing in motor-sport and its expertise in electrification, automation and connectivity.

"In my mind, these pillars are key to the future of urban mobility; together with our complete roster of partners, we can collectively help to speed up the switch to electric.”

With Formula E, Bosch (www.bosch.com) is focusing on a race series that has a global reach and offers an attractive technology and marketing platform.

The races are held around the world on city-centre circuits.

The fifth Formula E racing season begins on 15 December, when 22 electric racing cars will compete in the Saudi Arabian district of Ad Diriyah; it is there that the Bosch logo will make its debut on the race track.
