Tungaloy to show latest technologies at University

Tungaloy to show latest technologies at UniversityIn collaboration with technical partners Hurco (www.hurco.com), Autodesk (www.autodesk.com) and Tungaloy (www.tungaloy.com), the University of Wolverhampton will be hosting a live machining demonstration at its Telford Innovation Campus on 20 November.

The primary aim of this event will be to bring students, academics and industry experts together to showcase the university’s relationships with industry.

It will also demonstrate how these relationships can be exploited to promote industrial problem solving, upskilling, graduate recruitment and apprenticeships, as well as the research opportunities that will drive the next generation of engineers and innovators.

A complex EN24 steel aerospace bracket will be machined on a Hurco VMX42HSRTi five-axis machining centre using Autodesk CAM software and cutting tools from Tungaloy.

From the latter’s perspective, the demonstration will introduce the very latest DoFeed, DoTwistBall (with the new HJ high-feed chip-breaker), TungRec, TungMeister and other products from the Tungaloy portfolio.

These new tooling technologies are currently being applied at leading aerospace, automotive, power generation and general sub-contract manufacturing businesses.

Tungaloy UK will also demonstrate TungForceFeed, a small-diameter high-feed indexable milling cutter with tool bodies from 8 to 16mm in diameter.

This product will not be launched to the world market until December, so this will be the first time it will have been seen or used outside the R&D department in Japan.

If you would like to attend this morning event, which will start with breakfast available from 8.30 and run until lunch at 12.30, please register via the Web site (www.wlv.ac.uk/about-us/our-schools-and-institutes/faculty-of-science-and-engineering/school-of-engineering/engineering-showcase-event-nov-2018).
