Ashford-based Adjustoform Products Ltd, which makes a large range of dress forms for home sewing enthusiasts, has relocated to new premises (five linked units) to increase its production capacity.
In 1967, the company produced 100 dress forms a week; the current figure is 1,500, with 80% of them destined for export.
Managing director John Fagg said: “We needed to make full use of the space available at the new premises, so we started to look around for suppliers of mezzanines — and our landlord pointed out System Store Solutions (
www.system-store.com), which is located across the road.
“They came in, did a site survey and quoted a very competitive price for the work, so it made perfect sense to give them the contract.”
The initial installation included a 500m
2 mezzanine floor, a single conveyor (a second would be added soon after the initial installation was complete) and fire safety systems.
All of this had to be delivered and installed within two weeks to minimise disruption, so System Store Solutions did some pre-installation work off-site.
With a second conveyor installed, Adjustoform now has a clean flow of raw materials in and finished goods out, with an open-plan manufacturing facility on the mezzanine floor.
Factory efficiency has improved with this flow, and the additional space created allows for increased output and storage, as the business continues to expand.
Karim Loukil, speaking on behalf of System Store Solutions, said: “This installation is fairly typical of what we can deliver for customers needing additional manufacturing or storage space.
“Its success was in the detailed planning that allowed our engineers to install and commission everything in the shortest possible time, with minimal disruption to the production process.”
