AMTC Open Evening to highlight apprenticeshipsThe Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry is holding an Open Evening (from 5 to 7.30pm) on 6 December, to showcase apprenticeship opportunities available in its Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre.

The AMTC (on the MTC campus at Ansty Park) is making a significant contribution towards solving the skills shortages in the manufacturing industry.

With a plan to recruit nearly 100apprentices to start in September 2019, it is holding this event to give potential trainees an insight into the centre’s apprenticeship programme and its plans to develop the next generation of engineers.

The AMTC is a ‘flagship’ facility for the advanced apprenticeship programme, enabling apprentices to learn the latest technology in areas such as intelligent automation, metrology and advanced manufacture — and to test and develop their skills with partner employers.

Paul Rowlett, AMTC managing director, said: “Our purpose is to seed the manufacturing sector with a pipeline of capable engineering technicians.

"Employers can maximise their levy spend with our programmes, giving them a genuine return on investment and business impact, while ensuring that they become increasingly globally competitive.

"The Open Evening will give potential apprentices the chance to learn everything they need about our programmes.”
