United Caps, an international manufacturer of caps and closures, has submitted detailed plans for a multi-million-pound facility in Rotherham that will make beverage and dairy closures.
The plans are for phased development on a 4.1-hectare plot at the former Dinnington Colliery site.
A ‘preferred partner ’to the many leading companies, United Caps produces custom-designed closures for the likes of Arla, Danone, Unilever, L’Oréal and Pfizer.
The initial facility will be 54,000ft
2, with an option to expand to 215,000ftsup>2 as business growth demands. Four phases are proposed.
The project, initially employing 20 people, represents an estimated £18 million investment — including the first phase of machinery — and is expected to increase group turnover by 15%. It is being backed by a £1.5 million direct grant from the Sheffield City Region Combined Authority.
United Caps (

It had a turnover of 137 million euros in 2017. Last month, the company announced plans to open a new manufacturing plant in Alençon, France.
