Claus Ungstrup, vice-president of nacelles, said: “In addition to the recruitment of 50 new people, we are implementing new testing schemes at the plant, designed to increase the rate of production as well as improve the quality of the assembled nacelle.”
The expansion plans include another 10,000m
2 of factory space, plus 27,000m
2 of storage space for completed nacelles, effectively doubling the company’s footprint at Lindoe.
The company also announced that it has extended its lease agreement with the port to eight years.
Robert Borin, MHI Vestas chief manufacturing officer, said: “Offshore wind is in the midst of explosive growth around the world, with governments from Taiwan, the USA, Japan and many others declaring an appetite for more.
“We are unwavering in our commitment to the highest standards of excellence in our manufacturing business, and this new phase at Lindoe is a testimony to that commitment.”
