The vehicle electrification market requires experienced turn-key suppliers that can provide powerful assembly and test solutions for manufacturers of electric and hybrid vehicles.
To meet this challenge, AVL List GmbH (a global leader in engineering, simulation and testing technology for powertrain systems) and Comau SpA (a leading company in industrial automation products and systems) have joined forces to offer innovative, modular and flexible solutions for the simulation, design, assembly and testing of powertrain components for electric as well as traditional vehicles.
The agreement will ensure that customers have access to “robust standard solutions on a global scale”, backed by
a local presence, thereby ensuring high-quality solutions and a shorter time to market. The initial focus of the partnership will be on assembly systems and end-of-line testing for automotive batteries.
Urs Gerspach, executive vice-president of AVL List GmbH (
www.avl.com), said: “The combination of know-how between Comau — with its enhanced Industry 4.0 solutions — and AVL — with design experience in the integration of powertrain components and related testing methodologies — will take battery assembly and end-of-line testing to a new level.”
AVL is the world’s largest independent company in the development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries, and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.
It has more than 9,500 employees world-wide, and it had sales revenues of 1.55 billion euros in 2017. With its headquarters in Turin, Comau (
www.comau.com) is a designer and manufacturer of industrial automation products and systems. It has an international network of 36 locations, 15 manufacturing plants and five innovation centres that span 17 countries and employ more than 9,000 people.
