Fritz Studer AG (www.studer.com) recently delivered its 1,000th S31 universal cylindrical grinding machine — to the Chinese company Wuhan Hangda Aero Science & Technology Development Co Ltd, which makes high-precision components for the aviation industry at its Dongxihu site in China.

The latter is experiencing steady growth and decided to invest in a new precision cylindrical grinding machine.

After detailed technical discussions, Fritz Studer AG was awarded the contract.

A special ceremony at the end of 2018 was held at Wuhan Hangda to celebrate Studer’s delivery of its 1,000th S31.

Studer says the S31 is a compact all-rounder that is suitable for medium-size workpieces in single, small- and large-
series production.

Particularly popular with contract manufacturers, who often have very complex requirements for cylindrical grinding, it uses Granitan to provide a vibration-damping, thermostable and wear-free machine bed.

The first S31 left Studer’s plant in Steffisburg, Switzerland, at the turn of the millennium, and it is still in operation today at Shvabe München GmbH in Geretsried, Germany.

Yongjun Wang, deputy general manager at Wuhan Hangda, said: “A Studer cylindrical grinding machine is the guarantee for achieving the highest quality.

“We already have several Studer machines in our factory, and this is a good selling point for our customers.”
