Northern Ireland firm wins first export in ItalyDungannon-based Kiverco, a manufacturer of robust recycling plant for the waste-processing industry, has won its first export contract for the Italian market.

One of its mobile recycling plants will be used to process post-earthquake rubble in Umbria, central Italy.

The company designs and manufactures recycling plants to suit all types of waste processing, and it has worked with Invest Northern Ireland (Invest NI) over a number of years, focusing on new export markets and embedding quality control standards in its products.

Managing director Anne McKiver (www.kiverco.com) said: “We are constantly looking for business opportunities across the globe for our equipment.

“Invest NI’s trade teamhas helped us to make several export-market visits to Italy, where we are now growing our business.”

A powerful earthquake hit the Umbria region in August 2016.

Now, a local authority has purchased Kiverco’s mobile equipment to help recycle the debris and turn it into high-quality aggregates (meeting EU standards) that can be used in road building. These will be made available — at no cost — to the affected towns and villages.

Alison Gowdy, Invest NI trade director, said: “Developing new export markets takes time and investment. We have helped Kiverco to visit export markets and exhibit at large European trade shows.

“The Italian market was completely new to this company, and I am delighted that the work put in is now paying off.”
