County Durham-based Alexander Technologies — a leading designer and manufacturer of rechargeable batteries, chargers and battery maintenance equipment — has more than doubled the size of its operations in Peterlee to meet increased demand.

It (www.alexandertechnologies.com) has taken a 10-year lease on two units in Doxford Drive on the South West Industrial Estate, where it is already based.

The units amount to 40,000ft² in total, and the company will undertake a comprehensive fit-out before occupying them later this year.
