BMW wins engine-delivery contract from INEOSThe BMW Group has secured an order from the British firm INEOS Automotive Ltd for the delivery of petrol and diesel engines.

This is an important step in the BMW Group’s strategy to expand its business providing drive-trains to industrial customers.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo engines are destined for INEOS Automotive’s new off-road vehicle
project.

Pieter Nota, BMW AG board member (www.bmwgroup.com), said: “Our company is famous for its efficient high-performance engines, which are among the best in the world.

“We offer a broad range of premium tailor-made drivetrain technologies and services for car makers and other customers, and we believe this is a business area with real growth potential.”

INEOS Automotive Ltd was founded in 2016 by INEOS Group (www.ineos.com), a global manufacturer of chemical, oil and gas products.

Chairman Jim Ratcliffe (pictured), a car enthusiast and adventurer, first conceived of founding an automotive business in 2015, when Jaguar Land Rover announced the end of production for the iconic Land Rover Defender.

The British firm is still deciding where the new model will be built; at the time of writing, it is said to be torn between production sites in either the UK or western Europe.

However, the company has confirmed that the vehicle will not be built in Germany.
