Tamworth-based Precision Technologies, a specialist in the manufacture of gears and splines for Formula One (F1), has invested in additional inspection technology from Market Harborough-based Optimax Imaging Inspection and Measurement
Ltd (
www.optimaxonline.com) to ensure that the components it manufactures pass quality inspection tests first time.
To optimise the performance of safety-critical F1 components, they are ‘stress tested’ using advanced software to highlight areas that need to be inspected.
Precision Technologies uses an EVO Cam II Digital Microscope at a 50x magnification on its gears and splines, looking for any scratches that are not visible to the naked eye.
The system offers ultra-sharp image quality, and the increased frames per sec ensure that there is no motion blur.
Any defects are measured and logged; the company can then investigate what caused them.
Precision Technologies operations director Lee Wardall said: “We are very happy with the EVO Cam II systems, which we are using for our quality inspection.
“They are quality pieces of equipment, and because our customers are using the same equipment to inspect the goods when they arrive, we are confident that the goods we supply have been inspected to the highest standard and won’t be rejected by our customers.
“Happy customers are repeat customers.”
