Rail transit company Siemens Mobility Ltd (www.siemens.com) has officially submitted an application to East Riding Council for a rail manufacturing facility to be built in East Yorkshire.

The proposed £200 million development in Goole comprises 80,000m² of manufacturing, commissioning and warehouse space, as well as a four-storey 5,000m² office building.

The company won a £1.5 billion contract in November from London Underground Ltd for the regeneration of the Piccadilly Line.

If its application is successful, the first phase of the new facility is expected to open in 2023, with the site due to be fully operational by 2025, creating up to 700 direct jobs and a further 1,700 jobs in the UK supply chain.
