JK Metrology acquired by William Hughes

JK Metrology acquired by William HughesDorset-based William Hughes (www.wmhughes.co.uk) — a spring, wire-form and assembly specialist — has expanded its range of services with the acquisition of Cornwall-based JK Metrology & Quality Services, a well-established metrology and quality consultancy.

Managing director Max Hughes said: “This acquisition will be of particular interest to our many customers involved in the manufacture of high-precision components, where accurate measurement is key to the success of their business.

“By investing resources and people in this well-respected business, we will be able to offer a range of benefits for customers — including a reduced turnround time.”

JK Metrology is one of only three UK laboratories offering UKAS calibration of gauge blocks by interferometry (Class A).

‘By comparison’ calibration is also offered, and the company is a supplier of high-quality metrology equipment, from micrometers and verniers, gauge blocks and angle gauges to co-ordinate measuring machines and a wide range of other metrology equipment.

Mr Hughes said: “We are delighted to announce that John Kelly — a director of JK Metrology for many years — will transfer to William Hughes, where his depth of experience and wealth of knowledge will be a valuable asset.”

The introduction of specialist metrology services will sit alongside the ultrasonic cleaning services introduced by William Hughes with its acquisition of AC Services (South West) Ltd in 2015.
