Hendrik Veder Group, an international manufacturer of steel wire rope, has created new jobs and reported significant growth during the last 12 months, after a seven-figure investment in its UK activities in Aberdeen and Sheffield.

With facilities in five European countries, the Netherlands-based group specialises in steel wire and fibre rope products, lifting and inspection services and asset management; it also operates one of the largest wire rope sling production and test facilities in Europe.

It (www.hendrikvedergroup.com) has provided tailor-made services to the lifting and shipping industry since 1800 and now acts as a ‘one-stop shop’ for steel-wire and fibre-rope products, primarily to support UK Continental Shelf activities.

International development director Harry MacLean said: “This investment has resulted in the ability to synergise our UK provision with that of the wider group.

“The capability now exists to deliver a consistent range of combined products and services, economies of scale and additional technical support in Europe.”

The group has developed significantly in Aberdeen during the last 12 months, moving from a city-centre office-only
space to a 25,000ft² base at Bridge of Don, complete with large scale manufacturing facilities, and creating 20 new jobs. Meanwhile, additional presses at its Sheffield site have increasing its UK manufacturing
capacity by over 150%.
