Armada expands its super-yacht operationsFalmouth-based Armada Engineering, a leader in the field of marine hydraulics, is opening a workshop in Barcelona as part of a plan to expand its global services in the super-yacht sector.

The company will be located at MB92 Barcelona, one of the largest super-yacht refit shipyards in the world; it has a 220m dry dock, plus a 2,000-tonne lift to take vessels out of the water for maintenance work or repair, and is currently investing in a new 4,800-tonne lift to service even larger super-yachts (www.armadaglobal.co.uk).

Armada’s managing director, Joff Collins, said: “The fast-growing super-yacht sector represents a fantastic opportunity for Armada Engineering.

"This is an area where we already have extensive experience, having worked on some of the world’s top super-yachts. For example, we designed the hydraulic starting system for the world’s fastest super-yacht, which is owned by the Aga Khan.

"Our new base in Barcelona will enable us to grow this area of our business significantly, and we are really looking forward to working as part of the team at MB92.”

MB92 Barcelona is part of MB92 Group, which also has a shipyard in La Ciotat in the South of France. CEO Pepe Garcia Aubert said: “We are delighted to welcome Armada Engineering on board as one of our team of leading suppliers on-site.

"MB92 is committed to providing ‘state of the art’ support to super-yacht owners, and Armada Engineering shares our vision for outstanding service.”
