West Midlands-based Albert Jagger Engineering, which specialises in transport, industrial and machine hardware, is to reshore the production of its Antiluce fasteners from China to its Bloxwich factory.
The first phase of the reshoring process has commenced and is already resulting in shorter lead times for the company’s customers.
Mark Hilton, operations director (
www.albert-jagger.co.uk), said: “We have made a conscious choice to bring our manufacturing process back to the UK, in order to improve our control over every stage of production.
"We reviewed our business strategy in response to the uncertain economic climate governed by political turbulence, with the objective of ensuring that the future of Albert Jagger Engineering is secure for years to come.
"By bringing everything in-house, we can now dramatically reduce lead times, which would be anywhere between four and six months in China.
"Returning the company’s manufacturing process to British shores also means we can produce bespoke parts more efficiently and tailor them to the needs of the customer.”
The company can machine a wide range of materials — including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and nylon — and has recently invested in a Citizen Cincom L220 machine with an IEMCA Boss 338 HD bar feed to fine-tune itsengineering capability.
Further investment is expected in the near future; this will include acquiring a co-ordinate measuring machine and improving the company’s 3-D printing capabilities.
