Last month, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in France presented CAF with the ‘2019 Spanish company of the year in France’ award, reaffirming the group’s progress in France over recent years, which includes the significant contract recently awarded for the production of 28 Intercity units for the French operator, SNCF.
CAF’s (
www.caf.net) history in France dates back to 2008, when it purchased a rolling-stock production plant in Bagnères de Bigorre in the Hautes-Pyrénées, where it has undertaken various projects.
These include: the production of trams for the cities of Nantes, Besançon and Saint-Etienne; the renewal of the Lyon metro trains; and the project currently underway for the production of maintenance locomotives for RATP (Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens).
During the 2019 financial year, CAF won two significant contracts with the two major French operators: the renovation of RER trains for RATP, which controls the Paris Métro, urban and inter- urban transport of the French capital and its metropolitan area as well as some of the Regional lines (RER); and the significant contract recently entered into with the French operator SNCF for the production of future Intercity trains to renew the fleet serving the Paris-Toulouse and Paris-Clermont lines.
