Coventry-based SAC & Co Engineering Design Ltd (
www.sac-design.com), a supplier of engineering design and manufacturing technologies, has expanded its workforce after investing over £450,000 in new machinery and premises on the Binley Industrial Estate.
The company serves a growing customer base in the automotive, defence and aerospace sectors, and its 25-strong team has been boosted by 10 new arrivals since the move.
The new premises feature two purpose-built studios, a mezzanine office over two floors for computer-aided engineers and support staff, sheet metal fabrication bays, trim build and assembly, and a product assembly suite.
Steve Charlton, managing director, said: “We work with global names such as Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin, and we needed premises to reflect that.
"We work with strategic partners, whether it is creating tooling for a historic car or bespoke furniture designs for a private jet.
"We wanted to invest in our future; we anticipate being able to fill this facility and remain as a leading location for the owners of niche vehicles.
“Around £100,000 has been invested in a ‘state of the art’ photogrammetric scanning system, plus £40,000 in a fully mobile hand-held scanner, and we are confident that these will pay dividends.
"We have also transformed a former truck workshop into a brand-new paint shop, which we are leasing to Andy Hawtin of Total Paint Solutions, who has over 30 years’ experience in painting everything from carbon-fibre super-cars to classic cars.”
