Bunting begins expansion of Redditch facility

Bunting begins expansion of Redditch facilityAfter several years of sustained sales growth, Bunting Magnetics Europe Ltd is expanding its manufacturing floor space by 50% and adding new offices at its Bunting-Redditch facility (www.bunting-berkhamsted.com).

Since the company acquired Master Magnets in January 2017, manufacturing output at the factory has increased significantly, and it is now the European manufacturing base for magnetic separators and metal detectors.

Work on the expansion began in November with additional car parking spaces for employees and visitors, but the major work started last month.

Adrian Coleman, Bunting-Redditch general manager, said: “We design and manufacture large equipment for the mining, mineral-processing and recycling industries. The demand for our magnetic separation technology continues to grow and we needed to rethink our manufacturing strategy. The increased manufacturing space will result in improved productivity, with the aim of shortening lead times.”

The additional manufacturing area is ideal for the building of metal separation modules for the recycling industry (incorporating eddy current separators, drum magnets and vibratory feeders), large electromagnetic overband magnets for mining applications, and high-intensity magnetic separators, such as the induced roll magnetic separator, for mineral processing.

At the front of the facility, there will be a third floor of offices and a new ‘centre of excellence’ laboratory. Companies processing and mining minerals will send samples to the laboratory for tests to determine what separation is possible, leading to a process guarantee when a magnetic separator is purchased.
