Slaithwaite-based Salamander Fabrications has secured a £240,000 investment from Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to invest in high-tech automated machinery.
The sheet metal fabricator had a successful 2019, increasing its 50-strong workforce by 10 and winning a number of leading contracts — including a project to supply components for a large rail refurbishment project.
The new funding will enable the purchase of another 6kW laser and a fully automated warehouse system that will give the company a 24/7 manufacturing capability.
Salamander director David McStrafick (

"We thrive on innovation and pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking manufacturer, because we know the power of automation and what robotics can do.
"The new pieces of equipment will vastly enhance our efficiency and our output.
"The scale and speed at which we’ll be able to operate will be a huge boost towards expansion.”
