‘Lollipop’ cutter range extendedThe business model at Tewkesbury-based Quickgrind Ltd (www.quickgrind.com) is focused on products tailored to the needs of the end user, hence the Infinite Possibilities branding.

An example of this is the new Orbis series of Lollipop end-mill cutters, which can be configured to suit specific applications and material types.

Designed for five-axis machining of intricate components, the solid-carbide Orbis range allows access to difficult-to-reach features and surfaces; it also enables manufacturers to use a single tool to follow the most challenging of tool-paths and component forms.

The Orbis range is available with two, three, four, six or eight flutes, along with a variety of lollipop diameters, shank diameters and overall lengths — plus reduced neck diameters.

Furthermore, Orbis cutters have been designed to achieve ultra-fine surface finishes, even when targeting difficult-to-reach component features — and the tool geometries have been configured to minimise vibration.

There are three geometries for different material types: the Orbis A series has been designed for machining aluminium; the S series is for cutting titanium, nimonics and other high-temperature alloys; and the D series is for steel, hardened steel and other mould and die grade steel materials.
