The German Nordex Group (www.nordex-online.com) will be the turbine supplier for Vattenfall’s largest onshore wind farm in the UK, which has now been given ‘the green light’.

The 240MW South Kyle wind farm in Scotland will consist of 50 N133/4.8 strong-wind turbines, and Nordex will maintain the machines on the basis of a 10-year premium service contract.

Nordex CSO Patxi Landa said: “Vattenfall is a very important partner for our activities in Europe. We are pleased to equip South Kyle with the strong-wind N133/4.8 turbine from our Delta4000 series. Our highly efficient technology is particularly important to maximising electricity production.”

Paul Nickless, Vattenfall’s project manager for the South Kyle wind farm, said: “Vattenfall is looking forward to working with Nordex to safely deliver, install and put into operation the 50 wind turbines.

“Onshore wind is a proven low-cost technology, and we will work with Nordex to use local supply chains where possible.”

Nordex has installed more than 28GW of wind energy capacity in over 40 markets, and it achieved sales of around 3.3 billion euros in 2019.

The company has around 7,500 employees, along with joint manufacturing capacity in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the USA, India, Argentina and Mexico.
