George Bye, the CEO of US-based aircraft manufacturer Bye Aerospace recently said that the company’s eFlyer 4 programme has continued to ‘push the envelope’ for single-motor electric aircraft.

Mr Bye added: “The projected aerodynamic performance for this 200-knot airplane continues to mature and improve. This is due to its sleek fuselage profile and advanced wing design. The eFlyer 4’s unprecedented 48in-wide cabin is quiet and without compromise and will carry an 860lb payload. Powered by a 200kW (268hp) all-electric propulsion system, eFlyer 4 is targeted at the air-taxi and advanced training markets.”

Furthermore, Bye Aerospace recently unveiled its ‘game-changing’ eight-seat eFlyer 800, announcing purchase deposit agreements with Jet It, JetClub, and Rheinland Air Service GmbH. The company currently has about 800 airplanes in its production backlog over its three models of eFlyer aircraft.

Mr Bye says his aim is for the eFlyer family of aircraft to be the first FAA-certified, practical, all-electric airplanes to serve the flight training and general aviation markets.

“All the company’s current and future families of aircraft feature engineering, research and electric aircraft solutions designed to specifically address compelling market needs. Benefits include five-fold lower operating costs, no CO² emissions and decreased noise. We estimates eFlyers will eventually eliminate the release of millions of tonnes of CO² each year as deliveries begin and the general aviation fleet is replaced.”

Meanwhile, Bye Aerospace recently announced, in conjunction with Garmin, that it will supply the Garmin G500 TXi avionics system on the two-seat eFlyer 2.

Mr Bye said: “We want to provide our flight school customers with the best user experience possible, and we believe the G500 TXi is the ideal avionics package.”
