WDA Machine Knives recently upgraded its high-pressure nitrogen-generating capabilities with the latest MSS Nitrocube system.
Paul Harris, WDA’s managing director, said: “Our old nitrogen system had given us excellent service but required some refurbishment work as the quality of our laser cutting had started to reduce. We contacted Rugby-based MSS about how we could improve the situation and subsequently opted for a new Nitrocube 1 system.”
This provides high-pressure nitrogen at 99.9975% purity, as required for high-quality laser cutting, especially of stainless steel. The new system, which is also very compact, features integrated high-pressure storage tanks together and MSS’s own touch-screen control panel; it is also particularly efficient, using 25-40% less energy than previous systems — and producing nitrogen of a higher purity.
He added: “The installation work went extremely smoothly. MSS planned all aspects of the work to minimise disruption and got us back up and cutting again much sooner than I had expected. The new Nitrocube has improved the quality of our products and gives us great confidence in our nitrogen supply. Furthermore, the control panel gives me really useful operating data and I can clearly see the status of the entire system and production data at the touch of a button.”
MSS sales director Chris Smith added: “This was a challenging installation and I am very pleased with how well it went. We were able to provide WDA with a really flexible purchasing option that allowed them to upgrade their old system without any significant impact on their current capital budget.
“The latest generation MSS Nitrocube is particularly compact flexible and we have over 400 systems like this already installed in the UK. The popularity of this product is also growing very quickly in a number of important overseas markets.”
