Machinery Market has been informed that Baron Robert Dewulf, one of the founders of
LVD, passed away on 11 August, at the age of 93.
As one of the driving forces, the ‘D’ in LVD, the worldwide manufacturer and supplier of sheet metal working machinery and software, he made a significant contribution to the success of the company that he helped set up in 1954 alongside Jacques Lefebvre and Marc Vanneste.
The three men complemented each other well, with Mr Dewulf acting as the bridge builder to both government and industry. As a result of his efforts, Belgium-based LVD built a reputation as a respected manufacturer and excellent employer.
Under his tenure, LVD grew into an international company — his entrepreneurship and vision for the future was instrumental in LVD becoming the innovative global player it is today. Even though he had been retired for many years, until the very last moment he had a keen interest in the company and its staff.
