A line up of Hommel+Keller new arrivalsWhen it comes to specialist tools for small-part machining, Baldock-based
Floyd Automatic Tooling is the outright expert for delivering solutions. This expertise has now been expanded with a raft of new product lines from
Hommel+Keller and
Hirt Line.
The production of high-quality durable products often requires customised tooling solutions and Hommel+Keller has now introduced a series of new knurling, diamond burnishing, marking, broaching and gear-cutting products. For impeccable surface finishes below Rz 1μm, the new diamond burnishing tools can be applied to virtually any turning centre without separate work steps or equipment. This drastically improves precision, repeatability and surface finishes for manufacturers that demand high-quality components.
Known as an industry expert in part marking, Hommel+Keller has also expanded the scope of its marking portfolio. Like the burnishing range, the part marking tools can be used on all types of turning centre to create customised part marking in seconds with unparalleled precision and quality. This technology enables manufacturers to eliminate secondary operations and deliver consistent high-quality marking that is flexible to the needs of the end user.
As industry leaders in solutions for sliding-head and small part turning Hommel+Keller has also expanded its range of broaching and gear cutting technology. The new lines deliver efficient solutions for complex internal and external profiles with absolute precision, providing economical production in a single operation. All the new ranges are bespoke to the customer and application, and it is recommended that manufacturers discuss potential engineering challenges with Floyd Automatic.
For precision coolant delivery, Floyd Automatic has overcome the challenge of consistently delivering fluid to the cutting area with the Hirt Line range of stainless steel hoses. Now, Hirt Line has further improved the industry-leading system with the conversion of its system to a new welded version. This Hirt Line 2.0 enhancement is characterised by its excellent thermal stability that can work up to temperatures of 400°C while increasing mechanical load capacity.
With the upgraded system welded instead of glued as in previous versions, the mechanical load capacity on individual base and angle elements is significantly increased, making it impossible for the elements to come loose at the joints. Furthermore, the new Hirt-Line elements have also been developed for use at high temperatures and can withstand temperatures from -400°C to +400°C, a major improvement on the -30°C to +60°C range of its predecessor.
The welded joints also increase durability with the new series capable of withstanding higher levels of vibration, fluid pressure and chips from the cutting area. Pressure resistant up to 100bar, the enhanced Hirt Line 2.0 technology is perfect for the demands of heavy-duty machining applications. Manufactured from V2A 1.4305 (AISI 303) stainless steel, the articulated hoses are resistant to chemical substances and corrosion and can now be used in the food industry without compromise. With the welded joints, a new grade of stainless and precision-manufactured parts, the service life will reduce costs, and downtime and provide precision coolant delivery for the life of the machine tool.
