The new Haas Technical Education Centre (HTEC) opened at the CNC Training Centre in Athens marks a huge milestone for the company (
www.haascnc.com), being not only its first HTEC in Greece but also the 150th HTEC in the world.
Yannis Skopelitis, managing director of ERGO CNC (the exclusive Haas dealer in Greece), said: “Like any other nation, Greece needs a workforce that is skilled. The newly certified HTEC at the CNC Training Centre will help support this goal through the provision of practical CNC training at the highest international level.
"Despite 57% youth unemployment, many Greek companies — including several of my Haas customers — face a lack of candidates with the right technical skills. Until today, many training programmes — especially in our country — have had difficulty staying abreast of new technologies and adapting their content to the modern practical needs of Greek manufacturing. This HTEC partnership at the CNC Training Centre is filling that gap.”
Panos Gounas, general director at the training centre, said: “Young Greeks who want to get real CNC technology experience often have to go to central Europe or the Middle East. Now, we have a very practical CNC training curriculum and a programme that consists of not just theoretical seminars, but real CNC experience that will allow our trainees to become CNC craftsmen.”
