A Derby-based precision engineering company has been awarded a contract to supply Rolls-Royce with components for the Trent 1000 engine. Accrofab will produce all of the sheet-metal brackets on engines that will power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It beat off competition from around the world to win the contract. Used within the complex gas turbine engine, these brackets are designed to hold cabling and pipes.

Accrofab will use titanium, stainless steel and a range of high-nickel alloys to manufacture the brackets at its workshop on the Stoney Cross Industrial Park. The parts will then be heat-treated in its vacuum furnace — one of only a few in the East Midlands. Accrofab director Nick Willers said: “We are delighted to be playing a part in the success of the Trent 1000-powered Dreamliner.”
