SMEs across the UK are being invited to discover how they can harness the full potential of the Internet through a series of free regional events hosted by the Forum of Private Business. Business owners will learn how they can use search-engine optimisation (SEO) to ensure that potential customers are drawn to their products and services. They will also learn about Web site development and how making the most of their on-line presence can increase sales, boost profits and help them to move into new markets.
Phil Orford, the Forum’s chief executive, said: “The speed at which the Internet is changing, along with all the jargon and buzzwords which surround it, means that small-business owners are often left dazed and confused when assessing their options on-line. However, small firms can get to grips with the subject for free at one of our events and find out how to make the Internet work for them.
“With the help of experts from Creare — a leading Web design company — we will explain the many different ways the Internet can help to develop your business, whether by spreading the word about your products and services, by opening up new markets and opportunities or by providing a new and cost-effective sales platform.”
The events, which are open both to Forum members and to non-member, will take place at the: Holiday Inn, Basingstoke (14 September); Exeter Court Hotel, Exeter (16 September); Cottons Hotel, Knutsford (12 October); Hilton Hotel, Gateshead
(19 October); Radisson Blu, Birmingham (3 November); Ramada Jarvis, Leicester (4 November); St David’s Hotel, Cardiff (18 November); Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Cambridge (30 November); and the George Hotel, Edinburgh (7 December).
The events all start at 8am and will run until about 10am. Refreshments and a light breakfast will be provided. Places can be booked via the ‘development’ heading on the Forum’s Web site (www.fpb.org). Alternatively, call Sue Jordan on 01565 626010.
