New facility for Miller FabricationsMiller Fabrications — a steel fabrication company — has invested over £700,000 in new factory facilities in Wishaw, creating 16 jobs. The investment is being supported by Scottish Enterprise (SE) through a Regional Selective Assistance grant worth up to £140,000. The official opening of the new factory was attended by local MSP John Pentland.

The new structural-steel workshop — plus shot-blast and paint facility — will increase the company’s production of high-quality steel fabrications for the rail and highway sectors in the UK, as well as offering a complete in-house design, production and installation service.

The company already carries out all glass and timber work for its architectural fabrications in-house, as well as all glazing and cladding for large structural-steel fabrications such as bridges, walkways, staircases, lift shafts and canopies.

Managing director Gary Gibb said: “Investing in staff, facilities and machinery has been central to our ethos from the very beginning. The development of our production facilities will allow us to continue our growth ambitions in the rail and highways sectors, while consolidating our existing clients in the construction industry.

"We are committed to employing people from the local community, and we are delighted that this will bring an additional 16 jobs to the area.”

Welcoming the announcement, Rhona Allison, company growth director at SE, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to play a part in Miller Fabrications’ growth so far.

"Our relationship with the company over the past three years demonstrates the kind of work we do — helping firms to identify new markets, attract investment, improve their business practice, and build a solid growth plan to deliver an increase in both company revenue and staff numbers.”
